Company History

County Ambulance Service was founded in 1982 by the Andrews family. Today, County Ambulance is the largest family operated ambulance in Western Massachusetts with over 100 employees, a fleet of over 30 vehicles and two locations in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Due to the hard work of the many employees and management, County Ambulance is recognized as leaders in the industry. Training, quality improvements programs and relationships we have with facilities such as Berkshire Medical Center have also enhanced the reputation for being one of  the finest ambulance companies anywhere in the region.

County is the exclusive provider of 9-1-1 emergency ambulance service to the City of Pittsfield. Over the 24 years of providing that service has brought the Pittsfield EMS system to one of the finest in the state in cooperation with many City agencies. We are also the exclusive provider of Paramedic Intercept Service to Central and South County ambulance services.

Due to the Andrews family philosophy the company has become known as "The Company That Cares." County cares about its employees, its patients and the many agencies and groups that they work so closely with. Nary a day goes by that the company doesn't go above and beyond to ensure the comfort and safety of a client or patient.
